2021 White Coat Ceremony to Feature Dr. Virginia Chan as Keynote Speaker

The Keck Graduate Institute (KGI) School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences is proud to announce that Dr. Virginia Chan, PharmD, will be the keynote speaker at the 2021 White Coat Ceremony to be held on Saturday, August 21 at 10 a.m. on KGI’s campus. The ceremony will honor the Doctor of Pharmacy classes of 2024 and 2025.

Chan is President of Covina Pharmacy and ABC Pharmacy-Redlands. She and her husband, Dr. Tony Chan, donated to the School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in April of 2021. KGI renamed its café and patio to the Chan Family Café and Patio to celebrate the family’s philanthropy.

“The Chan family are generous supporters of the pharmacy community,” said Dr. Martin Zdanowicz, Dean of the KGI School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and Henry E. Riggs School of Applied Life Sciences. “We are honored to have Dr. Chan serve as our keynote speaker.”

Chan earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Pacific, where she also sits on the Board of Regents and serves as co-chair of the 300 Million Cabinet. She received the 2016 Distinguished Family Award from Pacific, and was inducted into their Gallery of Benefactors in 2007.

KGI’s White Coat Ceremony is a momentous occasion for new students entering the field. During the ceremony, colleagues already in the profession give each student a white coat, signifying the beginning of the student’s career in pharmacy. For students whose parents are pharmacists, the white coat is given by that respective parent.
