Keck Graduate Institute to Host TEDxKGI Event in February

Keck Graduate Institute (KGI) will host its first-ever TEDx event on Friday, Feb. 2, 2018 from 1-3 p.m. on the KGI campus. TEDx events are local gatherings featuring intellectual speakers presenting thought-provoking ideas and inspiring individuals to learn new perspectives.

The theme for the TEDxKGI event— “Shaping the Future”—coincides with KGI’s 20th Anniversary, and will include live TED talks and videos previously recorded at TED conferences to share with the community.

“We are very excited to host the next TEDx event through The Claremont Colleges,” said Sofia Toro, dean of student engagement and enrollment services at KGI. “We are looking forward to sharing this event with KGI students, alumni, faculty, and staff, as well as prospective students and community members.”

The TEDxKGI planning committee is searching for one-of-a-kind, boundary-pushing ideas to be presented at the event. Speakers should present an idea that correlates with the theme of the event—Shaping the Future. Topics should be creative, informative, and diverse, and do not need to be STEM related. Interested applicants should submit an application by Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017 at tedxkgi.com.

Tickets for the TEDxKGI event will go on sale in November. In accordance with the license terms issued through TED, the TEDxKGI event is limited to the first 100 people who sign up. The cost will be $20 per person. For those unable to attend, we will be hosting a viewing a few weeks after the event.
