After You're Admitted

Next Steps for Admitted Students

Yes, you’re in! Congratulations! While you can expect a phone call from the Admissions staff to check in and follow up, you may also contact your admissions counselor at any time. We’d love to help you in any way we can! Here’s what to expect:

Application Decisions

The Office of Admissions will send an email when a decision has been finalized. Applicants will receive an admissions decision after completing the application process (i.e. submit the online application and all required documents, interview, etc.). Any late or delayed submitted items may impact the processing time of a final admissions decision.

What to do after you’ve been accepted

  1. Review your Financial Aid Offer

Upon admission, your application file will be reviewed by the Office of Financial Aid for scholarship and financial aid consideration, if eligible . Your file will also be reviewed for need-based aid if:

    1. you have completed KGI Need-Based Aid Application and
    2. you have completed the FAFSA (for eligible domestic students).

Your Admissions Counselor will send your award letter by email, which will outline your award details and include the deadline to submit your signed acceptance letter and enrollment deposit.

  2. Submit your non-refundable enrollment deposit and signed acceptance letter

To accept your offer of admission, submit the signed acceptance letter with your non-refundable deposit to officially hold your place in the Fall 2026 class. Credit and debit card payments are accepted on the payment form. Please contact admissions@kgi.edu if you experience technical issues making while trying to make the payment.

Enrollment deposits will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until classes are full for the Fall term.  Acceptance does not guarantee a seat. Your place is confirmed only after KGI provides written confirmation of your enrollment deposit. With the exception of the Master of Science Physician Associate Studies (MSPA) and Master of Science in Genetic Counseling (MSGC) programs, students will be offered a place in the next available term if they have been accepted but no space is currently available. Space may become available as late as the add/drop date of the applied term.

    PharmD deposit

    OTD deposit

    MSPA deposit

    All other KGI programs deposit

  3. Submit official copies of your college transcripts

If you provided unofficial copies of your transcripts as a part of your application, then your acceptance is contingent upon receipt of official transcripts, which must be received no later than one week prior to the start of your first term at KGI.

Official transcripts should be submitted electronically via a secure transcript service such as Naviance, Parchment, National Student Clearinghouse, Scribbles, WES, or eTranscript, and sent to admissions@kgi.edu. Sealed paper transcripts sent directly from the issuing institution are accepted if electronic delivery is not available.

  4. International Students and the I-20 Form (F-1 Visa Holders and F-1 Visa Applicants)

Upon your admission, the International Student Advisor will provide you with the I-20 Application and Financial Verification Form. Admitted students are required by the Department of Homeland Security to show proof of funding for the first academic year. Upon approval, KGI will provide you with the requested I-20 form . Please review the form carefully and gather all required supporting documents in advance. Submitting your materials promptly will help ensure timely visa appointment scheduling and a smooth enrollment process. Documents to collect in advance:

    • Personal bank statements and/or sponsor bank statements
    • Proof of relationship to the sponsor
    • Scholarship award letter(s) (if applicable)
    • Approved student loan letter(s) (if applicable, conditional letters not accepted)
    • Passport

All submitted documents must indicate the desired program start date and must be less than 90 days old. Any documents older than 90 days will not be accepted. Supporting documentation must align with the information you provide on this form. Once approved, the documentation will be used to directly update your I-20 form . Once your I-20 application and supporting documents are provided, the review and processing time can take from 24-48 hours (excluding weekends, KGI campus events, and holidays).

  5. Review Tuition and Fees and Payment Deadline

KGI offers an installment payment plan to help students manage tuition costs over time. This option allows you to divide your tuition balance into scheduled payments rather than paying the full amount at once.

For all questions related to tuition, tuition payment details and options, scholarships, loans, fees, or other related inquiries, please contact Financial Aid at financial_aid@kgi.edu.

  6. Explore Campus Housing – Oasis Commons

KGI offers on-campus housing at Oasis KGI Commons, a modern residential community designed specifically for graduate students. Oasis features student lounges, an open outdoor plaza, a swimming pool, fitness center, BBQ area, and convenient classroom space, all located just steps from campus.

Admitted students are encouraged to explore their housing options early. Oasis KGI Commons offers both virtual and in-person tours of all three available room types and community amenities to help you find the best fit for your needs. Information on how to apply for housing and current housing rates is available on the Oasis KGI Commons website.

For questions or to schedule a tour, contact the Oasis team directly:

Once You’ve Committed

Congratulations on committing to KGI! We’re excited to officially welcome you to the community. Below are the next required steps to help you prepare for a successful start to your first term.

  1. Activate Your KGI Accounts

Information Technology (IT) will send you an email invitation to activate your KGI email and student portal login credentials . If you have submitted the signed acceptance letter and paid the enrollment deposit but have not yet received your login credentials, then please contact the IT Helpdesk (helpdesk@kgi.edu) as soon as possible. Be sure to check your KGI email regularly, as email is the primary mode of communication at KGI.

Additional Information

Academic Calendar

The academic calendar, including the start and end dates for the term, are posted on our website.

First-Term Course Registration

New incoming students are registered in their first-term courses by the Registrar and do not need to register themselves. You will receive a finalized class schedule the week of Academic Prologue. Any courses you see in your KGI Student Portal are not final and will be subject to change until you receive your final schedule.

Disability Accommodations

Upon receiving a letter of acceptance from the KGI, any person with a disability who might require special accommodations should discuss their needs with the Office of Student Affairs staff.

Additional policy information can be found in KGI’s Student Handbook.

Deferrals

Deposited applicants may request to defer their admission for one consecutive term following their original acceptance, provided space is available in the program. Deferrals are not permitted for the Master of Science in Physician Associate Studies (MSPA) or the Master of Science in Human Genetics and Genetic Counseling (MSGC) programs.

Students who wish to defer their start term must contact their admissions counselor to discuss their plans and initiate the process by submitting the Deferral Request Form. If the deferral request is approved, the applicant will be required to submit a $200 application deferral fee to hold their seat for the approved future term.

Please note that financial aid and scholarship awards do not automatically carry over to a deferred term. All financial aid, tuition, and scholarship eligibility will be re-evaluated for the new start term, as costs and awarding criteria are subject to change from year to year.

Declining your office of admissions

Accepted applicants who will not be accepting the offer of admission are kindly asked to notify KGI of their decision by emailing a signed acceptance letter, stating they are declining their offer.  We encourage students to complete the brief decline survey, as your feedback is invaluable and helps us better serve and support future applicants.
