Gus Buthman is the Assistant Vice President and Legal Counsel for Keck Graduate Institute. As the attorney for KGI, Gus is responsible for representing and advising KGI on all legal matters. He began his career with KGI in June 2025.

Prior to joining KGI, Gus spent eight years in the general counsel's office at the University of Oklahoma. There he litigated lawsuits on behalf of the University and advised the University on employment, academic, and student conduct issues. He also has significant experience in policy creation and management and contract management. Most recently, Gus served for nearly four years as an Administrative Judge for the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission where he adjudicated workplace discrimination claims brought by federal employees.

Gus earned his Juris Doctor from Oklahoma City University School of Law. He holds a B.A. from St. John's College.
