Give Now

Monetary Donations

A monetary donation is the easiest way to support KGI. It's simple for us to accept and quickly put to good use. Plus, you can claim the full amount as a charitable income tax deduction. Cash Gifts can be made by check or wire transfer.

Online gifts can be made right on our website using a credit card. These can be made as a one-time gift to the fund of your choice or as a recurring monthly gift.

Give Through Your Employer

Matching Gifts

Your gift can have an even greater impact if your employer has a matching gift program.

If your company participates, request a matching gift form from your employer and send it to KGI completed and signed with your gift. We'll do the rest. Matched gifts may double or even triple your original gift amount. Your spouse's company may also match your gift, and some companies also match gifts made by retirees.

Payroll Deduction

Employers often offer a way for employees to give directly from their paycheck via a payroll deduction to a qualified non-profit. Be sure to check with your HR department to start the process. These same companies often match those tax-free deductions.

Are you a KGI employee? Get started today in Time. Talent. Together. This KGI employee giving program is an opportunity to make an even greater difference when combining financial support with the time and talent impact you already make.

Give From Your Assets

Stocks & Securities

Give to KGI, take an income tax deduction, and pay no capital gains tax.

Donating appreciated securities and cryptocurrency held for more than one year is a smart and economical way to support KGI. You'll enjoy the satisfaction of making a significant gift now or funding a life income gift for the future, all while avoiding capital gains taxes on the donated securities.

Stocks, Bonds, Mutual Funds and Exchange-Traded Funds

If you have securities in a brokerage account, we can help you set up an electronic transfer to our account. If you have physical stock certificates, we can guide you on how to sign them over to us and complete a stock power form. Please notify your bank or broker that you're making a gift of securities to KGI and ask them to contact us.

For mutual fund shares, we'll assist you with the necessary letters of instruction, as the transfer process is determined by the mutual fund company.

Donor Advised Funds (DAF) & Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)

Support KGI through your charitable giving account.

A donor-advised fund (DAF) allows you to make charitable contributions to a dedicated account and recommend grants to organizations you want to support. If you have an existing DAF, you can recommend a grant to KGI. You can direct your gift to KGI generally, or recommend that it supports a specific school, program, or activity that most aligns with your wishes and priorities.

Giving through a DAF provides a flexible way to incorporate KGI into your charitable giving while making an impact on the university and its students.

Are you 70.5 years old or older? You can make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) or direct, tax-free transfer of funds from an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) directly to a qualified 501(c)(3) charity. Instead of withdrawing the money, paying income tax on it, and then donating cash, the funds go straight from your retirement account to the charity without counting as part of your taxable income.

You can donate up to $111,000 per person per year from traditional IRAs, rollover IRAs, inherited IRAs.

For those 73 or older and required to take Required Minimum Distributions (RMDs), a QCD counts toward satisfying all or part of your annual RMD.

You do not need to itemize deductions to benefit; the amount is simply excluded from your adjusted gross income (AGI).

In-Kind Donations

You can give a variety of assets and properties to KGI.

Support KGI by donating tangible property that you've owned for more than a year, such as art, collectibles, books, equipment, and other physical assets to help advance our mission. Real estate donations are a way to avoid capital gains and probate.

If you're considering such a gift, please reach out to us first so we can determine if the items can be used to advance our mission.

Plan Your Gift

Legacy Contributions

Enjoy your assets today and support KGI tomorrow.

A planned gift allows you to leave a lasting legacy. By including a bequest in your will, trust, or through a beneficiary designation from an account, you can support KGI in a meaningful way. Your bequest can be unrestricted, addressing the university's most pressing needs, or directed to a specific school, program, or activity at KGI.

There are several benefits to leaving assets to KGI. A commitment made today costs you nothing during your lifetime, and other heirs of your estate will not be taxed on the portion that KGI receives. This way, you leave a powerful legacy at the university and inspire others who share a commitment to KGI.

Gifts in your Estate Plan

Bequests can be made with cash, securities, real estate, and other property. You may designate a specific dollar amount, a particular asset, a fixed percentage of your entire estate, or leave the residuary estate after providing for loved ones. A bequest to KGI is fully deductible for federal estate tax purposes, with no limit on the deduction your estate can claim. Additionally, the gift is usually exempt from state inheritance tax.

Named Scholarships & Endowments

A scholarship in your name. A scientist in the field. A real-life solution for your community.

Every year, promising students give up on their dreams because of the cost to attend school. Scholarships alleviate that burden.

You can change the trajectory for a bright KGI student looking to make an impact in the world through a career in applied life sciences, health sciences, or pharmaceuticals.

Whether you choose an annual scholarship or an endowment that lives in perpetuity, we have a solution to meet your needs.
