What first got you interested in your field of choice?

I originally got interested in pharmacy when I was younger due to family’s health issues. I had dealt with a lot of members in my family who had to go on different types of medications. I was curious about the different medications and how it can help someone with their medication condition. Furthermore, I wanted to have the connection of helping people who are dealing with their illness and how their medication can help improve their life.

What type of obstacles have you had to overcome on the road to getting your education?

I had a few obstacles that I had to overcome when coming to get my education. When I was younger I was always told I would never succeed in getting a high school diploma from a fifth-grade teacher. Later on, in high school I was told from another teacher that I would never get a college education. Once I worked in the casino industry I was told by my previous manager that I would never get a doctor degree. As well, my spouse also spoke negatively about me succeeding on my goals in education. I went with my gut to be determined to my goal. There were times in the process of obtaining my pre-requisites for the program that I had issues due to working full-time, being a full-time student, and a mother of two kids. The main issue at the time was that I wasn’t getting the support from my other half towards my goal. I decided to stop working and continue my education and was able to succeed. I know I had always had to avoid the comments that people had made to me to get to my goal of wanting to become a pharmacist.

How did you know that KGI was the right school for you?

KGI was the right school for me because I liked how small the school is. I applied to other schools in the area and felt that I was more of a number versus a person. I felt that the other schools just wanted me for the money. I like how KGI takes the time to get to know you as a person and helps you succeed.

Why did you want to become an Admissions Ambassador?

The reason that I want to become an Admissions Ambassador is because I felt when I was a prospective student I got a lot of information about KGI. Compared to the other schools I applied to I got a perspective view of the school from a current student. I want to give those prospective students/potential incoming future students the information they would want to know as a current student at KGI.

What is one fun and interesting fact about you?

I enjoy watching movies. When I was younger, I used to film a lot of random videos before YouTube was a thing.
