Students enrolled in the Human Genetics and Genetic Counseling program will be required to attend a variety of clinical, laboratory and industry observations, workshops and standardized patient encounters in their 1st year, prior to beginning clinical rotations in their 2nd year. Some of these settings may not have genetics professionals staffing them but they are excellent learning opportunities. The goal of these observations is to help students gain experience and familiarize themselves with the many different aspects of the genetic counseling field. The observations will also help them to get comfortable in many different settings and build expectations and professionalism for their fieldwork placements.(GENE 399A)
