This course will provide in-depth and hands-on training in using genome-wide data to answer functional questions in biology. Students will gain experience in gene expression studies using polyA-enriched RNA sequencing and data analysis to identify differentially expressed genes. The course will also explore the interaction between proteins and DNA in the context of ChIP-seq experiments and chromatin conformation capture techniques. The course will culminate in a discussion of discoveries made through major genomics initiatives such as the ENCODE project and the Epigenetics Roadmap.(GENE 440)
