John Leland, Jr. was a founding partner of RCM Capital Management in the early 1970s. RCM is now part of Allianz, which owns PIMCO along with many other well-known investment entities. He received his BA from Stanford in 1956, served as an officer in the U.S. Navy, and graduated from Harvard Business School in 1960.
Leland was a Trustee of KGI from the early years and served as Chair of the Investment Committee for over 10 years, during which KGI’s investment returns rose from a low level to No. 1 for that time period. Now retired, Leland lives in Sonoma, CA with his wife, Sandra, whom he met at Stanford.
