Dr. Loren Martin joined KGI on September 1, 2023, as the Associate Dean of Research. In this role, he helps to cultivate research and scholarship opportunities for students and faculty, providing vision and leadership for KGI’s research endeavors. He provides oversight of the Office of Research and Sponsored Projects, Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer, Conflict Management, Laboratory Safety, Corporate Partnerships, and the PhD program in Applied Life Sciences.
Dr. Martin came to KGI from Alter Behavioral Health, where he served as Chief Scientific Officer and helped cofound Mindfuli, a web-based virtual behavioral health services platform. Prior to his time in the healthcare industry, he spent over 15 years at Azusa Pacific University as a faculty member, Director of Research for the Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology, and in his final two years as Chief Data Officer and Director of Institutional Research.
Dr. Martin has a B.S. in Psychology with minors in Biology and Chemistry from Olivet Nazarene University and a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the UC Davis M.I.N.D. Institute.
Hi research interests and expertise have included the study of cognitive behaviors associated with cerebellar functioning, autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disorders, and the development of digital therapeutics and supportive platforms for the treatment of mental health and substance use disorders.
