Eemon and Abrar

Dr. Abrar Al Maghribi completed her master’s degree with Dr. Rachita Sumbria at Keck Graduate Institute (KGI).  Abrar enjoyed the possibility of improving healthcare for many (and she loved the Southern California sunshine!), inspiring her to pursue a PhD, which she completed with Dr. Angelika Niemz at KGI in May of 2021. Currently works as a Research Scientist at Washington State University Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine using electroencephalographic techniques to study sleep in a mouse model of Rett Syndrome.

Eemon Tizpa, is a rising third-year medical student at Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine at Washington State University. Born in Olympia, Washington and moved to Southern California to attend Pitzer College where he earned his BA in Biochemistry. After Pitzer, Tizpa attended KGI to pursue a MS in Translational Medicine at Keck Graduate Institute and City of Hope. During this program, he completed his thesis investigating a novel therapy for melanoma brain metastasis. Through his graduate and medical studies in addition to his personal experiences, he is strongly interested in pursuing a career in Radiation Oncology.
